coming season. The season during which Europeans are permitted to visit Cashmir extends from the 15th April to the loth October, in each year. The head quarters of the officials annually deputed to the valley by Government, as well as the bungalows assigned by His Highness the Maharajah for the use of European visitors, are at Srinuggur, where the Maharajah has a residence, to which he occasionally resorts as a summer retreat. This year His Highness and the Court of Jammu passed the season at Srinuggur. The weather during the greater portion of the season was very variable. The early part was characterized by the prevalence of storms, high cold winds, arid frequent heavy rains.
